Neurotoxins like Botox® and Dysport® are popular cosmetic treatments used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily relaxing specific facial muscles.

Let’s Talk About Tox

  • HOW DO NEUROTOXINS WORK?

Neurotoxins are medical-grade injectables renowned for their prowess in combating the signs of aging.

Botox® and Dysport® are both brand names for products containing botulinum toxin, a naturally occurring neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When administered in small, controlled amounts, these neurotoxins block nerve signals to specific muscles, preventing them from contracting. This leads to a temporary reduction in wrinkles and a smoother appearance in the treated areas.

Areas commonly treated are those pesky wrinkles and fine lines that tend to crop up around your eyes (crow’s feet), on your forehead, and between your eyebrows (frown lines). But their utility doesn't stop there; these neurotoxins are also a potent remedy for excessive underarm sweating, TMJ pain, jaw slimming, and treating neck bands, making them a versatile solution for various cosmetic and medical concerns.

  • WHAT DOES THE PROCESS OF GETTING NEUROTOXINS LOOK LIKE?

Consultation: Begin with a consultation with our licensed nurse injector to discuss your goals, concerns, and any questions you may have.

Treatment Planning: Your injector will create a custom treatment plan, determining target areas and neurotoxin amounts.

Administration: The quick, minimally invasive procedure uses a fine needle to inject neurotoxin into specified muscles, with minor discomfort.

Results: Effects start in a few days, full results in 1-2 weeks, and typically last 3-4 months.

  • ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

While Botox® and Dysport® are considered safe, there can be some side effects, including:

Temporary Bruising: Some mild bruising or redness at the injection site is normal and typically resolves within a few days.

Temporary Weakness: In rare cases, nearby muscles may experience temporary weakness, causing drooping eyelids or a lopsided smile. This typically resolves as the neurotoxin wears off.

Headaches: Some people may experience mild headaches after the procedure.

Allergic Reactions: Although extremely rare, allergic reactions are possible. Inform your injector of any known allergies.

  • WHAT DOES AFTERCARE LOOK LIKE?

To ensure the best results and minimize potential side effects, follow these post-care instructions:

Avoid Excessive Rubbing: For the first 24 hours, avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas.

Stay Upright: Avoid lying down for at least 4 hours after treatment, as this can prevent the neurotoxin from migrating to unintended areas.

Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.

Limit Alcohol: Reduce alcohol consumption for the first 24 hours, as it can increase the risk of bruising.

Follow Up: Schedule a follow-up appointment with your injector to assess your results and address any concerns.
